Ivanovo
Ivanovo is the administrative center of Ivanovo Oblast, and it is known as the textile capital of Russia. For this reason and because most textile workers are female, it is also known as the City of Brides. In the early 20th century, this city competed with Łódź for the recognition of being the main textile production center, but since the workers living conditions were very poor, the strikes were more than frequent. Due to this situation, one of these strikes led to the first Russian revolution, and the first Soviet in the world was set up in this city in 1905.
