The Bolshoi Theater

Bolshoi_theatreThe Bolshoi Theater is the name of a theater and opera company, in Moscow. This company was founded in 1776 by Prince Peter Urussov and Michael Maddox, and gives performances of ballet and opera. The theater was inaugurated on 18 January 1825, and has presented several historic premieres, like Tchaikovsky's Voyevoda, and the Bolshoi Ballet troupe performed the Swan Lake in 1877.

Vladivostok

VladivostokVladivostok is a city in Russia, at the eastern terminus of the Trans-Siberian Railway. Home of the Russian Pacific Fleet, used to be off limits to foreigners and Russians until 1992, now is opening up to tourism. You can visit the Pacific Fleet and the Vladivostok Aquarium, also the Arsenev history museum and the Pacific Fleet Military Museum are very interesting. Don't miss the markets, specially the Sportivnaya, the largest one, it is like a maze, full of people selling almost anything, with a great food variety.

Volgograd

VolgogradVolgograd, formerly known as Stalingrad, is located on the west bank of the Volga River and was the scene of one of the most important and bloodiest battles of WWII, the Battle of Stalingrad, from August 21, 1942 to February 2, 1943. Don't miss the Panorama museum, located alongside the Volga river, it contains artifacts from World War II, including a panoramic painting of the battlefield viewed from the monument "Mamayev Kurgan", and a rifle of the famous sniper Vasily Zaytsev.
